Adult Music Lessons Relieving Stress
I love hearing that music plays such an important part in our students’ lives. On a weekly basis, adult students talk about the fact that playing the piano is a great way to relax after a long day at work; allowing their minds to rest and just focus on the pleasures of making music. There are numerous studies showing the role playing a musical instrument/making music has in keeping a sharp mind while, at the same time, decreasing depression, loneliness, and learned anxiety.
Some of our adult students at Floyd Music School are re-learning an instrument they began as a child and are encouraged to find that they are enjoying it even more as an adult. A few even want to become proficient enough to play at parties or family gatherings. Others just appreciate the satisfaction they receive from setting a weekly, or monthly, goal to learn a new piece of music.
