Founded in 2005, by Mike Mitchell and Jennifer Brooke, staffed and student(ed) by the Mitchell
and Brooke families over the years,
Mike and Jennifer make a strong
partnership
both inside and outside of the studio.

Associated with Virginia’s the Crooked Road and their Traditional Music Education Program
and with the Roanoke Youth Symphony Orchestra, we have formed a hybrid curriculum
that teaches classical music and traditional
Blue Ridge Mountain music.

Floyd Music School reopened in 2014 at 115 W Main Street in Floyd, VA.
The 2-story brick building contains quite a bit of musical history–
The original 1934-1936 building received a rear addition circa 1946
and became known as the Pix Theater,
hosting musical performances by the likes of bluegrass musicians,
Bill and Charlie Monroe and Roy Hall.
In March, 2019, Floyd Music School relocated to
3416 Christiansburg Pike NE, Floyd, VA
We are happy to offer the same wonderful music lessons in a quieter, more picturesque environment.
Lessons are in-person, in our
Floyd studio
or online via Skype, FaceTime,
or other video chat formats.
Mike teaches violin/fiddle, guitar, mandolin, banjo, and voice.
Jen teaches piano and flute
Mike also coaches youth Bluegrass bands, adult Jam Sessions, and String Ensembles.
