Join nationally recognized instrumental teachers and hit songwriters, Mike Mitchell and Dawn Kenney on a week-long creative journey in the art of Bluegrass picking and songwriting.

Morning Sessions will include instruction into the art of songwriting, demonstrations of pro-writer tricks and tips and song critiques.

Every day will focus on specific topics and techniques designed to build upon each other, and provide you with many new additions to your songwriting tool box. Mike and Dawn will combine this with song critiques designed to reinforce the topics and techniques being discussed.

Topics to include; starting with a good idea, writing from a title/hook, building greater emotion into your songs, co-writing, rhythm patterns in lyrics/melody and taking your song from good to great.

Afternoon sessions will consist of breakout groups for instrumental instruction and/or band coaching and hands on songwriting and co-writing.

The afternoon ends with a session on instrumental arrangement and song production for demo recording. The instructors will guide students as they complete a simple demo recording of their song.

Evenings will be spent in a relaxed song-circle and jam. All students are invited to perform in the culminating writers round concert.

This program is best suited to advanced beginners and intermediate players and writers.
